Izu Kawazu Nanadaru Onsen

Izu Kawazu Nanadaru Onsen

Izu Kawazu Nanadaru Onsen is a quiet onsen town nestled in the Kawazu River valley at the foot of Mt. Amagi in Izu.
In Japanese waterfalls are called taki but in Kawazu they were called taru so the reading of the characters 七滝 is not Nanataki but Nanadaru. In addition to the onsen themselves, there are many not-to-be missed sightseeing spots at Kawazu Nanadaru Onsen such as the Seven Great Waterfalls which are famous for being the setting of the book “The Dancing Girl of Izu” by Yasunari Kawabata as well as the Old Amagi Tunnel. In addition, in recent years people flock here between the end of January and the beginning of March to see the pink blossoms during the Kawazu Sakura Matsuri (cherry blossom festival). This is an all-year destination with attractions for every season with roses and irises in spring, the sea and beaches in summer, the changing leaves in autumn and the Kawazu cherry blossom in winter.
