Arima Onsen

Arima Onsen

Arima is also called the “inner parlour of Kansai” and is an historical onsen resort that was favoured in the past by Hideyoshi Toyotomi (shogun from 1537 – 1598) . Even in the modern day where technology is well developed, Arima continues to provide shallow source (up to 300m) spring water with the full blessings of nature (active onsen elements). Arima Onsen contains 7 of the 9 main elements (simple, carbon dioxide, bicarbonate, chloride, sulphate, ferruginous, sulphur, acidic, radioactive mineral onsen) required to be designated as a Cure Spring according to Ministry of the Environment policy, excluding sulphur and acidic onsen water elements, and is an onsen with a mixture of many of these elements that is rarely found in any country. The spring water containing iron and salt that changes color when exposed to the air is called “Kinsen (Golden Spring)” and the other transparent spring water is called “Ginsen (Silver Spring)”. These both have effects on rheumatism and neuralgia, etc. There are more than 30 onsen facilities at Arima Onsen and here you can spend the whole day enjoying the different onsen.
