Lost passports

If you lose your passport, contact your embassy or other relevant organization.

Theft

If you are the victim of theft during your trip, report the theft either by calling 110 (police) or by going to the nearest police box. If your traveller’s cheques or credit cards are stolen, you should notify you bank or credit card company of this as soon as possible.

Lost property

If you lose an item, contact the relevant organization as soon as possible. If your property is recovered, you will be contacted straightaway. Lost property that contains no personal information is sent to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Lost & Found Centre after a month or so.

Traffic accidents

First of all, call 110 (police) and report the circumstances of the accident. Take a note of the name, address, telephone number, age, registration plate and licence number of the other people involved in the accident. If you are injured, even if it is not serious, go to a hospital for tests.

Injury / sudden illness

Call 119 (ambulance: you will not be charged for ambulance service) and state your name, address and telephone number, etc. If you are not the patient, please contact the family or friend of the person concerned.
