Coin lockers
In Japan, when you have a lot of bags from shopping or a lot of luggage when travelling, it can become very tiring carrying them around. In these cases, why not use a convenient coin locker?
There are many coin lockers at airports and main stations in Japan. In general, they are divided into 3 sizes: small, medium and large and fees differ for each size: 300 yen / day, 400 yen / and 600 yen / day respectively. A further charge of 300 yen occurs after midnight as an additional day is charged.
The smallest lockers usually measure 50cm × 50cm and are a good size to store hand luggage. Fees are also economical at 300 yen. Lockers are usually installed inside stations where there are regular patrols by locker supervisors or security cameras installed so they are relatively safe. However, in order to guard against all eventualities, it is a good idea to carry your valuables with you at all times, not to leave them in a coin locker.
<Points to note>
- ● In order to guard against all eventualities, do not leave valuables in a coin locker.
- ● You will need to have 10, 50 or 100 yen coins. Coin lockers do not give change.
(※If you put too much money in by mistake, it will not be returned to you.) - ● Please keep your locker key safe and be careful not to lose it.
- ● Do not put dangerous items in a coin locker. Any problems are the responsibility of the person using the locker.
Convenient coin laundries
Coin laundries are facilities that people living alone often use and most of them are in shopping streets in residential areas. Fees are around 500 – 1,000 yen per wash which also includes drying. Many people either go shopping or stay in the laundry and read books while waiting for their washing to finish.
Have a look at these modern facilities when you are in Japan. If you have plans to be a long-term resident in Japan, why not use these facilities? They are very convenient because they allow you to reduce the amount of luggage and changes of clothes that you bring.
