Car Rental
Car rental is a service that rents cars for a fee and it is possible to rent from car rental agencies mainly at locations such as airports, major railways stations where Shinkansen or limited express trains stop and city centres.
The driving licence of the person who is renting the car is required so if you are planning to rent a car during your trip, don’t forget your driving licence.
In order to use a rental car, you must first agree to the conditions in the rental agreement then fill in your personal details on the rental contract, sign it and make the necessary payment. However, it should be noted that, if you have had serious accidents or violations in the past, your rental application may be refused.
In addition, it should be noted that there are restrictions concerning driving in Japan for tourists from other countries. If you have an international driving licence issued in one of the following Asian countries, you can drive a car in Japan: Korea, Hong Kong and Macao, the Philippines, India, Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Laos. Or, if you have a licence issued in Taiwan, you can drive a car in Japan if you carry a Japanese translation of this licence.

- ●Taiwan Economic and Cultural Representative Office, a Taiwanese organization resident in Japan (Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Fukuoka, Naha)
- ●Road administration organizations throughout Taiwan
